Cast Away! Ocean Bamboo Tray

Cast Away is my line of “seconds”, or “perfectly imperfect”, marked down 20% to 40%.

Through the years, I have accumulated Ocean Boards with small imperfections. These imperfections are sometimes difficult for customers to see and although most people don’t mind them, I feel these Ocean Boards need to be discounted. There might be a bubble, specks of dust or a small hair in the resin; a mark on the wood, cupping or I am just generally disatisfied with my work. (The imperfection will be described and shown in a picture.)

This one is a 40 cm Bamboo tray. I just about cried when I finished it an turned it over! I used too much sand on the first layer and the weight made the bamboo crack. Because of the many layers of resin (to make the waves effect), the tray is strong and I have no concern for it’s functionality. But cosmetically, its bottom has some cracks as seen on the picture (only visible when you turn the tray over).
